Fox River (Illinois River Tributary)
There is a Fox River in southeastern Wisconsin that flows 202 miles long, flows from north to south, a tributary of the Illinois River. It rises in the Haibach Swamp near Colgate, Wisconsin and stays within Wisconsin for 84 miles.
This is the Fox River flows through the town of Waterford in Racine County. The river here is most interesting, unfortunately I did not have time to wander around. But just on the north side of Waterford, close to downtown, there is a dam that creates two marvelous and pretty good-sized lakes, Lake Buena and Lake Tichigan, the latter of which receives the Fox River directly.
This is a photo taken from Hwy 83 as it crosses the Fox into the town of Waterford.
